Leftists are so giddy they won the abortion vote in Kansas they’re boarding buses for the state to personally peform the procedures. But they mangle the narrative like the body of a dead fetus.
Here’s Michelle Goldberg of the NYT: “The stunning result in an abortion referendum in Kansas on Tuesday, however, shows that even in a very red state, bans cannot necessarily survive contact with democracy.”
“Very red state” meaning very Republican state. Which currently is ruled by Gov. Laura Kelly, a Democrat.
It took me less than a minute to do some real journalism and look up the voter registration numbers for the Jayhawkers on the Secretary of State’s site. The latest tally, from last January; I’ll add the percentages:
852,000 Republicans: 44%
495,760 Democrats: 26%
21,453 Libertarians: 1%
546,161 Unaffiliated: 29%
1,915,374 Total
Add it up — I’ll do the math for you, Michelle — in percentage points favoring the pro-abortion position, it’s maybe:
13 points Republicans
1 point Libertarians
21 points Unaffiliated
20 points Democrats.
Total: 53 points.
Then add:
3 points for the greater enthusiasm for the pro-abortion side
2 points because the pro-lifers came up with a convoluted strategy and mangled ballot language.
Total: the 59 points the pro-abort side ran up to keep their state Supreme Court pro-death edict intact.
Michelle writes: “The anti-abortion movement has already been aided by minority rule. Roe’s end was made possible because a president who lost the popular vote was able to put three judges on the Supreme Court.”
Wrong.
The abortion controversy began as a national, presidential issue in 1972, when Republicans accused Democratic nominee George McGovern of pushing “acid, amnesty and abortion,” the first two being LSD and amnesty for Vietnam War draft dodgers. Abortion has been a major issue in every presidential election since, with Republican candidates being pro-life and Democrats pro-death.
Here’s a little more journalism for ya, Michelle. The vote tallies of all the presidential elections from 1972-2020:
Clearly, Americans voted for the pro-life Republicans over the pro-death Democrats, 51.18% to 48.82%. Democracy demands a pro-life policy. Or at least the recent Supreme Court decision letting the states set policy.
Michelle’s position is anti-democratic and authoritarian.
What’s with these pro-aborts anyway, obsessed with legalizing abortion everywhere, not just in America, but on the planet?
They easily can get abortions in their home hellholes of NYC, DC, LA and SF. Why can’t they leave the rest of America, and the world, alone?
For them, why is it always death, death, death?
