The Washington Post, owned by centibillionaire Jeff Bezos, is rabidly anti-Trump. Yet here’s the key part of its editorial on the Colorado Supreme Court throwing President Trump off the state’s primary ballot; albeit stayed until it’s taken up by the adults on the U.S. Supreme Court. WaPo:
As Justice Samour points out in his dissent, however, what’s missing from the majority’s analysis is due process of law. Not only has Mr. Trump not been convicted of insurrection either by a jury of his peers or from the bench by a judge; he hasn’t even been charged with it. Tellingly, Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith has brought an aggressive case against the former president for conspiracy to defraud the United States, obstruction of an official proceeding and more — but not for violating the federal law against insurrection. The penalties for that, by the way, include disqualification from “any office under the United States.”
Of course, in the United States, not just anyone can be president. Only aspirants over age 35 who are natural-born citizens may occupy the Oval Office. The difference is that these criteria are objective. Whether someone has engaged in insurrection is less so. Disqualifying a candidate based on an accusation, albeit one blessed by a state court judge as in the Colorado case — but not an actual conviction — is dangerous. What’s to stop a Republican politician from seeking to bar his Democratic opponent because the opponent attended Black Lives Matter protests, claiming that those protests, some of them nominally in service of abolishing the police, qualify as insurrection? To be clear, there is no moral equivalence between Black Lives Matter protesters and the Jan. 6 Capitol mob. But that is the point: the potential for abuse is ample.
It's pretty funny how they favor the BLM rioters, who burned down cities, to the mostly peaceful protesters on Jan. 6 – something obvious from recent videos released on the event, showing people allowed into the Capitol by the Capitol Police, and just milling around.
In any case, if you’ve ever lived in D.C. you know it’s an insular, inbred provincial town whose company newspaper is the WaPo. On inter-government matters, it’s more influential than the NY Times. The WaPo also is connected to the intelligence community, especially the CIA. Whereas the NY Times is connected to the State Department.
The WaPo also just ran this by rabidly anti-Trump legal columnist Ruth Marcus: “The Supreme Court should toss the Colorado case.” She writes: “The best outcome, for the court and the country, would be for a unanimous court … to clear the way for Trump to run.”
In D.C., at least, they’re noticing how Trump rises in the polls with every bogus legal attack on him. His legal cases also look to be postponed until after the election. It may be the D.C. establishment is reconciling itself to Trump moving back into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on Jan. 20, 2025.
It also may be the Establishment is tired of Biden’s somnolent incompetence, in which the different parts of the regime have no idea what’s going on in the other parts. The Daily Caller reported, “There’s A Direct Line Between Joe Biden’s Deep State And Trump Getting Removed From Colorado’s Ballot.” The story:
The left-wing legal organization behind Colorado’s decision to remove former President Donald Trump from its Republican primary ballot has a direct link to the Biden administration.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) President and CEO Noah Bookbinder is a member of the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) tasked with giving real-time advice to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, the DHS website says….
CREW brought the Colorado case against Trump and celebrated the Colorado Supreme Court’s 4-3 ruling to keep Trump off the state’s GOP primary ballot.
“Our Constitution clearly states that those who violate their oath by attacking our democracy are barred from serving in government. It has been an honor to represent the petitioners, and we look forward to ensuring that this vitally important ruling stands,” Bookbinder said in a press release.
Bookbinder is a former trial attorney for the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) public integrity section and former chief counsel for criminal justice for the Senate Judiciary Committee. He repeatedly donated to former President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign during his tenure with the Senate, Federal Elections Commission (FEC) records show.
“Responsibility and Ethics in Washington”? What a joke. “Public integrity”? I’m still laughing.
Maybe I’m wrong. Way wrong. But it may be DC is so tired of Biden, it’s willing even to let Trump return. Biden has been getting us into wars seemingly every month, the latest with the Houthis in the Red Sea. That’s too much even for the Military Industrial Complex, which couldn’t supply enough weapons of war to Ukraine even before supplies were shifted to Israel for the Gaza War. Then there’s the Taiwan mess with Communist China.
Everybody remembers when, just three years ago, were at relative peace. Not total peace because always “there will be wars and rumors of wars” (Matthew 24:6). But under Trump there were no new wars. And in a second term, with the Russiagate nonsense Hillary and the FBI perpetrated (per the Durham Report), Trump would have worked with Putin for nuclear arms control and keeping Ukraine free and, importantly, neutral and out of Nato.
Again, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Biden will hide out in his basement and sleepwalk to a second term. But this Colorado case may indicate the Establishment has not gone totally insane and finally has decided to make sure the fools currently running the show don’t blow up the world.
He owns it. The unsigned editorials always reflect the publisher's views.
The ruling on Trump in Colorado is yet another example of the American political establishment’s sub-Saharan Africa-tier corruption.
Interesting that the WaPo would take a tempered stance on this. I wonder if this is grift. I do suspect so. I suspect that, given Zionist/Jewish control of many aspects of the American public-private partnership regime (otherwise known as “The Swamp”), some interesting things are happening now underneath the surface with the Israel/Palestine situation.
We know that American Jews of all political persuasions, left and right, are turning against the mainstream AND far-left because of their pro-Palestine stance. The left is thus not fertile territory for continued Zionist manipulation.
They will thus turn to the right, abandoning the Frankenstein movements they helped create: BLM, #MeToo, mass immigration, and trannies in schools. But they will continue to put Israel’s cancerous interests above those of the United States.
I suspect that the chessboard is currently being rearranged and that WaPo perhaps sees the winds changing. They are the same snakes they have always been. In fact, people like Trump and his associates should keep a list of these fifth column groups and their leaders for when he reestablishes power.
Moreover, he should make their pro-Israel, anti-white, and anti-America stances public knowledge, and perhaps arrest them for high treason. They are “The Swamp”.
