After the recent mass shootings, calls again have risen for more gun control. Biden is calling for an “assault weapons” ban similar to one he supported in 1994. That was the Feinstein Bill. It lasted 10 years and, studies show, had no effect on anything. Which shows how he and the Democratic Party are living in the past. He’s 78 and Feinstein is 87.
But here’s my question now: If they got full-scale gun control, going after tens of millions of guns, how would they do so? Would they just kill gun owners, as at Waco and Ruby Ridge? Both those massacres caused a national outrage, and actual reform at the FBI, BATF and other organs of state security.
And in America, the main level of law enforcement actually is local sheriffs. Except in Connecticut, each sheriff is elected by county voters. Other than in the more Soviet areas, such as San Francisco and New York City, sheriffs are not going to go along with any massive gun confiscation.
Americans also are not like Australians and Canadians, who passively went along with the execution of their liberties. It was especially dismaying to see how Canadians, who so bravely stormed Normandy Beach in 1945 to rid Europe of tyranny, gave up their own liberties in recent decades by submitting to severe gun control.
That’s unlikely to happen in the US of A. We now wield something like 400 million or 500 million guns. In 1994, the Biden-Feinstein gun grab caused Democrats to lose both houses of Congress for the first time in 40 years. The same thing would happen in 2022.
That’s another thing Biden has forgotten.
