Sen. Blumenthal Should Volunteer for Ukraine War
Chickenhawk should lead the charge
One of the more disgusting politicians in America is Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn. — and we do mean Con, one n.
He once boasted, “We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam.” But it turned out, as even the NY Times reported, he got at least five deferments to draft dodge out of our Army fighting in Nam. Instead of Hue, he went to Harvard. He did eventually join the Marine Reserve. His duties making sure the Viet Cong didn’t invade Washington, D.C., included “fixing a campground and organizing a Toys for Tots drive.” A 1970 Rambo!
Now he’s demanding, “Long-range artillery is very, very important. But so is the hand-to-hand insurgency that we are hoping to see in eastern Ukraine, in the territory that's already been occupied by the Russians.”
Then he should volunteer to lead the fight. Ukraine welcomes foreign recruits to head to the Eastern Front.
It reminds me of the threat always over the head of Col. Klink in the old “Hogan’s Heroes” TV show. Gen. Burkhalter would shout, “Klink! You are going to the Eastern Front!” Blumenthal and Klink actually look alike.
As to Eastern Ukraine, it’s the area Russia just conquered. It’s Russian-speaking and was where the Azov Brigade Nazis, before Russia destroyed them, and other Nazis killed at least 14,000 locals in revenge attacks befor the war started. All the Ukraine regime had to do was grant the Donbas autonomy and that carnage could have been avoided. Throw in a pledge by Kiev never to join Nato, and the war could have been avoided.
But bloodthirsty chickenhawks like Blumenthal insisted on sacrificing the lives of tens of thousands of Ukrainians, brave young men who could have rebuilt Ukraine. Now they’re dead, with many hundreds of thousands wounded. Tens of thousands of Russians also have died.
And let’s not forget, which this coward did, we’re still at risk of a nuclear holocaust with Russia, the radioactive residue swirling around the Northern Hemisphere, killing even more millions on top of the millions killed by the blasts.
Blumenthal also is stupid about insurgency war. If he had gone to Nam, he would have learned about it there firsthand. Maybe, as a strapping young Marine, he would have won the war for us. South Vietnam, instead of falling under communist tyranny, would have become a capitalist powerhouse like South Korea. His brilliance in his own mind would have translated to battlefield victories of Napoleonic scale.
As to an insurgency in Ukraine, that couldn’t happen for long because it’s a different place from Vietnam or Afghanistan. Its cities are urbanized. East Ukraine, where he says the insurgency should attack, is densely populated. I’ve heard it described as like Northwestern Europe in its density.
It’s true Stalin encouraged and supplied insurgencies there after Hitler invaded. But both dictators were fighting scorched-earth wars to the death. There also were insurgencies on the Nazi side, the infamous Banderites, the progenitors of the Nazi Azov Battallion. Yeah, Blumenthal, Biden and Blinken put us on the side of the Nazis.
Insurgency in East Ukraine would mean civilians would be brought into the war even more than now. It never would end. The area would become depopulated.
What’s really needed, first, is for an immediate cease fire to be declared in Ukraine. Then Biden and Putin need to meet in Reykjavik, the place of the Reagan-Gorbachev detente in 1986, to work out a peace deal. Finally Blumenthal and the other chickenhawk warmongers should be ousted from power.
