If Kamala Harris becomes president, she could become the first woman president, and the first woman president to draft young women into the regime’s endless wars. The war in Ukraine obviously is going badly, as even some regime media admit. Only the introduction of NATO troops, meaning your children and grandchildren, can change that.
Then there’s the Middle East. WaPo headline: “Biden sends antimissile system and 100 troops to Israel, deepening U.S. role: The mission marks the first significant deployment of U.S. troops to Israel since the war in Gaza began and comes just weeks before the U.S. presidential election.”
Here’s a map of where your children and grandchildren are stationed, as of Oct. 1; the deployment to Israel is not included.
All those bases are targets for missiles by the Houthis, Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran. Following Iran’s Oct.1 missile strike on Israel, the latter is expected soon to strike back. That might bring instant Iranian attacks on U.S. bases. Your children and grandchildren could be coming home in body bags.
And let’s not forget tensions with China. With the U.S. tied up in wars in the Ukraine and the Middle East, and already low ammo supplies running out entirely, would that be a good time to grab Taiwan?
That’s why a military draft is being wheezed about again in D.C. Last summer, the House passed a bill automatically registering all eligible males for the draft. But it went nowhere then the Senate included girls.
Meanwhile, on Oct. 2 Responsible Statecraft reported: “US military draft sign-ups plunge in 2 years: As conflicts rage overseas, previously undisclosed data shows a brewing crisis in the Selective Service. Of men in the U.S. who turned 18 in 2023, fewer than 40% signed up for the draft — down from more than 60% in 2020 before the start of the war in Ukraine.”
But if we actually had a draft, girls obviously would be included. The feminists would insist. Young men would sue to include young women. The four ladies on the U.S. Supreme Court would convince at least one of the fellas to join them in a 5-4 majority mandating draft equality. Already, the military has opened all roles, including combat and special forces, to women.
And with President Kamala leading us into more wars as our Commander-in-Chief, our Xena, Warrior President, the military is going to need a lot more troops inducted, willing or not.
A draft would bring inevitable 1960s-style anti-war and anti-draft protests. Will Joan Baez again be warbling anti-war ditties, as she did at the 1969 Woodstock bacchanal? No. This time she’s supporting ex-President Zelensky (his term of office expired May 20). Will Taylor Swift revoke her support for a wartime President Kamala? Not likely.
You’re on your own, kids!
But we’re sure to see anti-war protests that might look like this:
I think a couple of things have changed since the draft was implemented force decades ago. I understand the former draft had a kind of summer camp quality where young men could learn to fire a weapon, drive a truck and maybe be stationed somewhere fun, domestically or in Europe. I have known Germans and Finns who were drafted and had a blast. My father in law has stories of tussles with NCOs in Communist Eastern Europe that sound like something from the movie Stripes.
In contrast, a modern draftee experience would likely mean endless DEI lectures and being posted to some Godforsaken Middle Eastern hellhole.
The rationale is also weak. Back then there was an obvious Cold War. Now it’s a case where politicians in the West just can’t say no and want the US to serve questionable foreign and moneyed interests. It sounds more like the pre-WWI army that worked for United Fruit and the like, and that was a small military.
So I don’t think the draft is coming back. The last thing the powers that be want is armed and lean young people.
