Ukraine Update: Trump Stuck With No Policy as Russian Juggernaut Advances

With the Israel-U.S. vs. Iran war on the back burner for now, the U.S.-NATO-Ukraine vs. Russia war has been moved to the front burner – and boy is it hot. Russia daily has been launching 700 missiles and drones at Ukraine’s military, about 10%, or 70, hypersonic missiles that are almost impossible to stop. President Trump “lashed out” at President Putin, as the NY Times headline put it. Trump’s actual words: “We get a lot of [b.s.] thrown at us by Putin, if you want to know the truth. He’s very nice to us all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless.”
Well, Trump campaigned last year on ending this war “in 24 hours.” But here we are almost six months past Inauguration Day. Trump keeps saying it’s Biden’s War. True enough. But it’s also now Trump’s War. It’s similar to how Richard Nixon campaigned in 1968 on ending the Vietnam War, and did so – after four more years of killing. At least this time no Americans are coming home in body bags and there’s no military draft. But Nam chewed up Nixon’s administration and led to Watergate, whatever that was.
The neocon fanatic warmonger chickenhawks have lined up new sanctions. The main ones are by Sen. Lindsey (not Lohan) Graham. “President @realDonaldTrump is spot on about the games Putin is playing,” Graham said in a Tuesday post on X. “The Senate will move soon on a tough sanctions bill – not only against Russia – but also against countries like China and India that buy Russian energy products that finance Putin’s war machine. The Senate bill has a presidential waiver to give President Trump maximum leverage.”
The sanctions would be 500% tariffs. That would implode the U.S. economy. All imports from China, India and the other countries would stop. The ports would close and mass employment would flow inland from the coasts like a tsunami. Including the Port of Charleston. But what does Graham care about the Palmetto State dolts who voted for him? They’re just pawns in his game, like the Ukrainian soldiers dying at 3,000 or more per day are just cannon fodder for his neocon psychopathy.
Do you get it, Mrs. and Mrs. America, and all the ships at sea? These people don’t care about you. And let’s not forget my refrain about this war from the get-go more than three years ago: There are two outcomes: 1. Russia wins. 2. Nuclear Armageddon. That’s why Trump really should have settled this matter on Jan. 20 on the best terms he could get for Ukraine.
Sen. Richard “Da Nang Dick” Blumenthal is Lindsey’s sidekick leading the chairborne rangers in pushing us into a much bigger war. He wrote Tuesday in a letter in the warmongering Wall Street Journal: “Ukraine has repelled Russia’s invasion, severely degraded Vladimir Putin’s military and made astonishing advances in drone warfare.” Every point is a lie.
As the 700-a-day drone and missile attacks show, Russia is both advancing and has upgraded its military capacity, probably double what it was when the invasion started in Feb. 2022. And while Ukraine has “made astonishing advances in drone warfare,” Russia has made even more astonishing advances, and in far greater numbers. And guess what? Russia started the war way behind in drone technology, so it grabbed some Iranian drones. Since then, Russia’s highly advanced aerospace industry – which was leading the world until Elon’s Starship came along – is passing much, not all, of that tech to Iran, after the two countries signed a mutual defense pack three days before Trump’s inauguration.
Da Nang Dick: “Still, victory is far from certain. After initially pausing weapons shipments, the Trump administration’s decision to restart them is welcome.”
No, victory is impossible. The new weapons shipments are paltry and amount to only a few Patriot missiles, hardly enough even to slow the Russian air onslaught.
Da Nang Dick: “The Pentagon can replenish its stockpiles with additional industrial production. We can add this requirement to the National Defense Authorization Act that the Senate Armed Services Committee will mark up this week.”
Yeah – in 10 years. He’s advancing the delusion Biden kept repeating, sliding rapidly into his second childhood, that America’s industry is “the arsenal of democracy.” But this isn’t the 1940s. Much of our industrial capacity was shipped to China. The rest has been crippled by DEI, ESG and MSG. Da Nang Dick thinks we can just switch from producing Studebakers and Packards to making B-26s and Sherman tanks. But Studebaker and Packard went bankrupt long ago.
Da Nang Dick: “Equally important are bone-crushing sanctions to stop China and other countries from enriching Mr. Putin’s war machine by purchasing Russian oil and gas. My bill with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R, S.C.) has 83 other co-sponsors and would apply scorching fines on products that such nations seek to sell in the U.S. The American public supports this measure.”
What delusion! Again, the 500% sanctions would smash the U.S. economy. But Chinese exports to the U.S. amount to just 3% of its GDP. If it lost all of that, its expected 5% growth would drop to 2%. The American public “supports this measure”? They don’t even know it exists! By they’ll sure feel it when they’re standing in unemployment lines and the shelves are bare at Walmart.
And Da Nang Dick ignored the meeting in Rio last weekend of BRICS – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa – which now comprises 20 nations, including this year Iran. That’s right, Iran, which the Ukraine War pushed together with Russia and China in an alliance against America and NATO.
BRICS has been advancing as an alternative to U.S. dominance of global economic structures, such as the EU, the World Bank and the IMF. The Graham-Da Nang Dick bill only will push that further.
The letter concludes: “Restarting the weapons deliveries is the right step, Mr. Trump. Now let’s bring the sanctions bill to the floor.” Yes, the floor of the slaughterhouse.
The fact is this war has turned out like previous attacks on Russia. It’s Napoleon retreating after the Battle of Berezina. Or it’s Hitler’s Wehrmacht retreating after losing his third invasion attempt at the Battle of Kursk, leading to Operation Bagration, the Soviet advande westward ultimately to Berlin.
It’s up to Putin now to decide whether he stops at the Dnepr, at Odessa or goes all the way to the border with Poland. No, he won’t invade Poland or any NATO country. Because Trump has nukes, too.

Trump should listen to the Pentagon, which is running low on interceptor missiles for the Patriot missile defense system, and because Lockheed is their only maker of 650 a year...
