Troops not eager to die for the Global American Empire
U.S. Military recruiting is not meeting targets. Looks like they’ll have to bring back the draft to make sure there are enough recruits to support the senseless wars planned for us, beginning with Ukraine.
It’s too early for numbers from March. But Army Times reports, “Army Recruiting tries to keep pace amid job market crunch, civilian competition.” The military brass always blames recruiting downfalls on a roaring economy. But shouldn’t people be joining for patriotic reasons?
Going to pointless deployments in Eastern Europe or the Middle East isn’t protecting our country. It’s advancing the weird Neocon obsession with taking over the world. They say it’s for “freedom” and “democracy” and “liberty.” But why are we defending the dictatorships in Saudi Arabia and Turkey?
The new Army slogan is, “We are in a war for talent.” I suppose it’s better than the old one, “Be all you can be.” Maybe they can get Hollywood, which is backing the Ukraine War, to come up with something better.
The military also has a problem because it’s aiming to be America’s most “woke” institution. As Gen. Milley said before Congress, he wants to root out “white rage,” whatever that is. Something like “rage against the machine”? “Rage, rage against the dying of the light”? Who knows.
It doesn’t help the military keeps losing wars. The Afghanistan War was a 20-year debacle. Even though Biden was right to get us out — finally — he and the military botched last year’s withdrawal. Then there’s the Iraq War, with our troops still there, 19 years after GW Botch’s “Mission Accomplished” stunt on May 1, 2003.
The tragedy is we actually do need a real, efficient military — to defend our country, not engage in foolish adventures in foreign lands no one even could find on a map a day before our involvement. We need youngsters to join up for patriotic reasons, to defend the Red, White and Blue, not because they can’t get a job during a recession.
We need officers and NCOs to re-up because they are proud of their service, not leaving because they are disgusted with the latest “woke” fad being imposed on them.
We need to tell the politicians to stop using our young troops as playthings in their deadly and absurd games of geopolitical folly.
