Ukraine is a Dead Country Walking.
It’s birth rate was “possibly as low as .7” per woman in 2023, according to Ukraine’s Institute of Demography and Social Studies. A birth rate of 2.1 is needed for replacement; .7 is one-third of that. Here’s a graph that goes through 2021, just before the war started.
Ukraine needed two things to survive: 1. Peace through neutrality, meaning not listening to the U.S.’ siren song to join NATO. 2. A religious revival so people gain hope, become less materialistic and start having more kids.
Neither happened. Ukrainians, like almost everybody in the Western world today, embraced materialism and gave up on religion. And the 2014 putsch the Obama-Biden-Nuland administration perpetrated put in charge in Kiev a pro-NATO, neo-Nazi puppet government that antagonized Russia by killing 14,000 Russian-culture Ukrainians in the Donbas with artillery shells. Check the links.
The regime also moved toward joining NATO, which would mean the U.S. would put nuclear missiles 300 miles, or three minutes to launch, from Moscow. Just on April 4, SecState Blinken promised Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Brussels, “Ukraine will become a member of NATO.”
Russia invaded in Feb. 2022. A peace deal was worked out between Moscow and Kiev in Turkey in March 2022, just a month later. But Biden sent poodle UK PM Boris Johnson to Kiev to put the kibosh on the deal.
Russia withdrew its limited number of troops to a defensive position, put up three lines of trenches, more than doubled its force size, put industry on a war footing, threw back Ukraine’s 2023 counteroffensive, meanwhile prepared for a long war, and began the horrible “meatgrinder” that has gained slow but significant advances. Current estimates are: 600,000 Ukrainians dead and 60,000 for Russia, or 1/10th. It’s the equivalent of 6 million American troops killed in two years.
Ukraine’s population has dropped from maybe 40 million – the last census was 20 years ago – to 29 million. Although many now are “living abroad.” Young men are fleeing the country to avoid being drafted and killed in a pointless war.
That’s one reason why Biden’s $61 billion aid package will have no effect on the war’s outcome. Russia will win no matter what. But the American largesse will keep the war going longer, killing more Ukrainian men until none is left to fire the weapons. Even as American taxpayers’ pockets are emptied once again.
Not Enough Soldiers, Weapons
Even those weapons deliveries will be paltry because America doesn’t have enough armamentarium to send over there. Sen. J.D. Vance provided the details in an April 12 op-ed in the New York Times: “The Math on Ukraine Doesn’t Add Up.” The links to the data are his:
· Ukraine needs more soldiers than it can field, even with draconian conscription policies. And it needs more matériel than the United States can provide…. Russia has nearly four times the population of Ukraine. Ukraine needs upward of half a million new recruits, but hundreds of thousands of fighting-age men have already fled the country. The average Ukrainian soldier is roughly 43 years old, and many soldiers have already served two years at the front with few, if any, opportunities to stop fighting. After two years of conflict, there are some villages with almost no men left. The Ukrainian military has resorted to coercing men into service, and women have staged protests to demand the return of their husbands and fathers after long years of service at the front. This newspaper reported one instance in which the Ukrainian military attempted to conscript a man with a diagnosed mental disability.
· Consider our ability to produce 155-millimeter artillery shells. Last year, Ukraine’s defense minister estimated that the country’s base-line requirement for these shells was over four million per year but that it could fire up to seven million if that many were available. Since the start of the conflict, the United States has gone to great lengths to ramp up production of 155-millimeter shells. We’ve roughly doubled our capacity and can now produce 360,000 per year — less than a tenth of what Ukraine says it needs. The administration’s goal is to get this to 1.2 million — 30 percent of what’s needed — by the end of 2025. This would cost the American taxpayers dearly while yielding an unpleasantly familiar result: failure abroad.
· Just this week, the top American military commander in Europe argued that absent further security assistance, Russia could soon have a 10-to-1 artillery advantage over Ukraine. What didn’t gather as many headlines is that Russia’s current advantage is at least 5 to 1, even after all the money we have poured into the conflict. Neither of these ratios plausibly leads to Ukrainian victory.
· The story is the same when we look at other munitions. Take the Patriot missile system — our premier air defense weapon. It’s of such importance in this war that Ukraine’s foreign minister has specifically demanded them. That’s because in March alone, Russia reportedly launched over 3,000 guided aerial bombs, 600 drones and 400 missiles at Ukraine. To fend off these attacks, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, and others have indicated they need thousands of Patriot interceptors per year. The problem is this: The United States only manufactures 550 per year. If we pass the supplemental aid package currently being considered in Congress, we could potentially increase annual production to 650, but that’s still less than a third of what Ukraine requires.
Demographics Is Destiny
Demographics still is destiny. You can’t fight a war with not enough young men bearing rifles and manning artillery and antiaircraft batteries.
The danger now is if our European NATO allies send troops, which is being promoted in Foreign Affairs, the Establishment’s premier propaganda organ. That would be a major escalation as Russia has said it immediately would target them first.
Americans won’t be sent at least until after the election. If they then are sent, your sons – and daughters – too would be targeted first.
Body bags coming home would discourage enlistment. But a draft is out of the question when you look at the protests already going on at college campuses over Gaza. The kids are not all right.
It’s a fine mess Biden got us into. And which those in Congress who voted for the $61 billion aid package chose to prolong, with more Ukrainians killed.
If Trump wins, he says he could end it in 24 hours. Well, who knows.
If Biden wins, the only real option to stop a Russian victory is for him to use tactical nukes, leading eventually to global thermonuclear destruction.
Meanwhile, America’s own birth rate just sank to a new low, 1.62 per woman in 2023. Americans, too, are depressed from being sucked dry by high U.S. tax rates, regulations and the promotion of degeneracy by both the government and the billionaires who run it.
That’s the reality, folks. Some of my readers say I’m too “pessaristic,” to quote Moe of the Three Stooges. I’m just giving you the facts so you can regulate your own lives accordingly.
USA has 70 million Evangelical Christians who are Gung Ho on the war, on Gaza....and oddly on Trump, the only chance for stopping the slaughtering. Their guiding scripture is the Book of Esther which is a non-religious book where queen Esther seduces the king to go to war against her tribe's enemies. Evangelicals have no problem with promoting the non-religious book of Esther over the Gospels and Letters. This being the case, the fundamental problem seems to be religious.
