My Uncle Al went ashore in Normandy on D-Day Plus One as a U.S. Army MP and nearly was killed by “friendly fire.” My father, after whom I’m named, went ashore shortly after, a captain of ordinance in a battalion that repaired the tanks, jeeps, artillery, etc. that won the war against Hitler. He didn’t directly see combat, but was bombed enough times by Stukas.
He remembered U.S. Sherman tanks would come to them with a hole in the side, through which a German anti-tank round entered and bounced around inside. He recalled, “We had to clear out the guts and whatever was left of our dead tankers, repair the tank, and send it back into battle.” He also remembered “bodies stacked like cordwood.” And “the sweet stench of death stayed with me for 15 years.”
So I’m disgusted by how President Biden used his 80th Anniversary of D-Day speech to advance his insane, potentially nuclear war with Russia – in alliance with Ukraine’s regime which is heavily influenced by Nazis. Here’s a couple recent examples:
“Putin Vs Macron New Flashpoint: Leaked Pics Show Ukrainian Soldiers Wearing Nazi Symbols In France.”
And: “Germany deports 7 Ukrainian soldiers for wearing Nazi symbols.”
Biden naturally included some remarks on the heroism of the Americans on that fateful June 6, 1944, who liberated Europe from Nazi tyranny. And he singled out the surviving men, now around 100 years old, who attended the ceremonies.
He also could have dropped his poking-Russia-into-nuclear-attack hobbyhorse for an afternoon. Maybe thanked Russia for losing 27 million dead to stop Hitler’s invasion, Operation Barbarossa, which started on June 22, 1941. About 12 million of those were Russians soldiers. Without them, at least 3 million more Nazi troops would have been on the beaches at Normandy, and my uncle and father would have been killed, and I wouldn’t be here. Maybe you wouldn’t be here. Maybe Biden could have begun a new détente with Russia to end the Ukraine War and re-start nuclear arms limitation talks.
Instead, he said, “Isolationism was not the answer 80 years ago and is not the answer today.” But his policies are isolating America, as the rest of the world, outside the European vassals, is uniting against America in BRICS+, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other groupings to protect themselves from America’s military and economic hegemony.
Biden: “We know the dark forces that these heroes fought against 80 years ago, they never fade. Aggression and greed the desire to dominate and control to, change borders by force. These are perennial. The struggle between a dictatorship and freedom is unending. Here in Europe we see one stark example. Ukraine has been invaded by a tyrant bent on domination. Ukrainians are fighting with extraordinary courage, suffering great losses, but never backing down.”
Well, now they’re “backing down” because Biden got most of their fighting forces killed. And others have gone into hiding, or exile, to avoid being drafted and killed. Biden is the Butcher of Ukraine who destroyed their country, possibly entirely.
Biden: “They've inflicted on the Russian aggression. They’ve suffered tremendous losses on Russia. The numbers are staggering. 350,000 Russian troops dead or wounded. Nearly 1 million people have left Russia because they can no longer see a future in Russia the United States.”
Those numbers are just made up. Biden’s War has stirred up Russian nationalism and record numbers of young men are volunteering. They see Biden as another Hitler or Napoleon invading the Rodina – Mother Russia.
Biden: “NATO and a coalition of more than 50 countries standing strong with Ukraine. We will not walk away because if we do Ukraine will be subjugated and will not end there.”
If you’ve read my Substack in the more than two years I’ve written about Ukraine, you know my position from the beginning. There are two outcomes for this war:
Russia wins.
Nuclear war.
Take your pick. There is no No. 3.
Biden: “Ukraine's neighbors will be threatened. All of Europe will be threatened.”
Nonsense. Russia has no desire to take any other country, just to make sure Ukraine is neutral and doesn’t host nuclear weapons 300 miles from Moscow. Moreover, as this war has shown, defense is what is crucial. It’s hard to take ground. All NATO has to do is maintain a defensive posture and it couldn’t be conquered – except for the small Baltic countries, about which nothing can be done anyway. Also, Europe is rich. Why can’t they defend themselves?
Biden: “And make no mistake. The autocrats of the world are watching closely to see what happens in Ukraine to see if we let this illegal aggression go unchecked.”
Yeah, they’ve noticed America is run by lunatic ideologues. That’s why they’re uniting against us.
Biden: “We cannot let that happen. “To surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators is simply unthinkable.”
All he had to do was accept the March 2022 peace accord Russia worked out with Ukraine in Turkey, and it would have been over. But nooooooo. Biden sent Boris Johnson to Kiev to kill the deal. Biden wanted to bankrupt Russia, then break it apart. Remember he said in his State of the Union right after the war started, “The ruble is rubble”?
What we’re in now is a race to see if this nation can long endure without Biden getting us nuked. Can we make it to Nov. 5, or maybe even Jan. 20, before we can switch him out for his opponent, who knows how to make deals, who can bring peace to Ukraine and to the Middle East as well, and who can prevent a nuclear war that would annihilate 5 billion of 8 billion people on the planet?
Biden doesn't care because he will be out of here before most of the rest of us.
Even if it were true that 350,000 Russians are dead or wounded, it would be a vile thing to celebrate. It seems to me that even for most of the Cold War there was a recognition of the other side’s humanity and there wouldn’t be public gloating at their losses.
To see a powerful 80 year old man celebrating the death of countless young men in a war he has fomented and not even tried to end is obscene.
