Insane Macron Nuclear War Threats Show Why Trump Must Get U.S. Out of NATO – Now
(follow me on X: @writejohnseiler)
We just were reminded French President Emmanuel Macron wields 290 nuclear weapons, what they charmingly call their force de frappe, which sounds like a souffle. Reported Le Monde, “President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday, March 5, announced he would discuss extending France's nuclear deterrent to European partners and raised the possibility of sending European troops to Ukraine to enforce a peace deal, as Europe scrambles to respond to Donald Trump's upending of the transatlantic alliance.”
Macron himself said:
I want to believe that the United States will stay by our side but we have to be prepared for that not to be the case. The future of Europe does not have to be decided in Washington or Moscow…. Russia has become, at the moment I am speaking to you and for the years to come, a threat to France and Europe. It would be madness to remain a spectator in this world of danger."
Wait! I thought Russia’s army was weak and barely could beat 40-year-old Ukrainians with Yugoslav AK-47s?
To put a twist on my favorite Goldwynism: “Gentlemen, include U.S. out.”
Russia wields 5,899 nukes and in about 15 minutes could obliterate every major city in France. Which brings up another Hollywood quote, Bogart’s from “Casablanca”: “Wasn’t particularly my beloved Paris.”
Macron also is saying Russia wants to march west and take over all Europe. You mean like how Napoleon, Macron’s model, marched his troops to Moscow, found the Russians had burned the place down so his troops would starve, retreated to Paris, then after losing the War of the Sixth Coalition, found in 1814 Czar Alexander I led his troops to occupy the City of Light, along with Prussia, Austria, the UK, the UK and Sweden?
The whole idea of Russia attacking Europe is absurd. Even without United States – oh, happy day! – NATO would have the conventional power to stop Russia’s forces. As I noted in my previous post, Europe’s economy and population are larger than that of the United States. Unlike the Ukraine, they have an air force. Ukraine is whining about losing American intel on Russian military dispositions. But the rest of NATO has strong intel capabilities, albeit not as robust as those of Russia and the U.S.
Then there’s what Putin wants. I’ll tell you. It’s not to take over a bunch of squabbling, decadent European states that have become tyrannies. The czars had enough problems occupying one-third of Poland, as did the Prussians and Austrians for their thirds.
Putin has two major problems he has to solve, fast: 1. Succession. 2. Demographic decline.
Russia’s last irenic succession was when Nicholas II succeeded his father, Alexander III, who died in 1894. Since then it’s been revolutions, assassinations and dubious transitions. Putin has been running the place for 25 years. But at age 72, can’t live forever. He is popular because he pulled the country out of the slough of despond in the 1990s, bringing economic prosperity and restoring Russia as one of the great powers. But what’s next? No one knows.
His second real problem is Russia’s fertility rate is 1.4 per woman, below the 2.1 replacement rate. Almost every country in the world now has that problem. Putin has encouraged the revival of Russian Orthodoxy, which promotes having a lot of kids. But as in most places, life is expensive and the distractions of modern living encourage childlessness.
Thus, it makes no sense to get even more young men killed in wars of conquest. No young men marrying young women, no babies and no future. Instead of saving Russia, he would bury it.
In any case, look at this map of European total fertility rates. Russia’s neighbors’ rates are so low, it only has to wait three decades and those countries will have dissolved (assuming, of course, Russia itself doesn’t dissolve): Ukraine 1.0, Lithuania 1.13, Latvia 1.24, Estonia 1.17, Romania 1.39 and Poland 1.11 (under the Soviet Yoke and strong Catholic resistance to its atheism, the TFR was 2.5).
Maybe Macron, France and the rest of Europe have a Freudian Death Wish and just want Putin to get it over with and wipe them all out.
As to America: Let’s get out of this psychotically bad relationship with an abusive partner.
Come home, America.
But no mention of the formation of an amphibious assault team forming in Turkey, heading to the Ukraine to keep the peace, exactly what Russia didn't want, a NATO army in the Ukraine. This information was related by Hal Turner on his program last night, FWIW.
