Why Do Republicans Trust Joe Biden – on Anything?
I don’t get it. Why do Republicans trust Joe Biden – on anything? Such as the Ukraine War, the budget, judicial appointments, etc. Yet they do.
The guy supposedly is “bipartisan” and a “moderate,” but he has thwarted and attacked Republicans at every turn. He wants to put his Republican presidential rival in jail. He already jailed Trump adviser Peter Navarro. He’s about to jail Trump adviser Steve Bannon. He jailed hundreds of non-violent Boomers with heart conditions who were just milling around the Capitol, after the Capitol police let them in. He’s trying to jail blogger David Mackey for making fun of dear sweet Hillary.
And let’s not forget Sen. Biden in 1987 sabotaged the Supreme Court nomination of Robert Bork to the U.S. Supreme Court. And in 1991 Biden nearly succeeded in keeping Clarence Thomas off the court in what Thomas called Biden’s “high-tech lynching of an uppity black man.” No wonder Biden, with a grin, still likes to refer to Delaware as a “slave state.”
Yet here’s Minority Leader McConnell in the New York Times on June 6, the 80th Anniversary of D-Day: “We Cannot Repeat the Mistakes of the 1930s.” I don’t know how many times I’ve heard the Ukraine War compared to WWII and Putin to Hitler. Biden did it on D-Day as well, which I wrote about in, “Biden Disgraces American Heroes on D-Day 80th Anniversary in Normandy.”
Robert Kagan, the neocon theorist kingpin, just wrote a whole book about it, “The Ghost at the Feast: America and the Collapse of World Order, 1900-1941.”
The first absurdity, as I wrote about in my article, is the Ukraine regime is stuffed with actual Nazis.
The second absurdity is this…
Hitler invades France in 1940, as happened.
Hitler: “Achtung! France! Surrender!”
France: “Schicklgruber, ever heard of nuclear weapons?”
Hitler: “Jawohl! Heisenberg is building them. But I told him not to use ‘Jewish physics.’”
France: “Well, we got Einstein and Oppenheimer working for us. They already built 300 A-bombs. We call it our force de frappe. 300 bombs have been dropped and in 5 minutes all Germans will be killed, beginning with you.”
Hitler: (to the theme of the finale of Wagner’s “Götterdämmerung”: “Aaaaaach du lieber!”
Bang.
Let’s get back to McConnell, who’s always been in the pocket of the Military Industrial Complex (MIC): “We reflect less often on the fact that the world was plunged into war, and millions of innocents died, because European powers and the United States met the rise of a militant authoritarian with appeasement or naïve neglect in the first place.”
Like Biden in his speech, Mitchell doesn’t mention one of the “European powers” was the Soviet Union/Russia. Which after the Sep. 1939 Stalin-Hitler pact, was invaded by Hitler on June 22, 1941, and lost 27 million people driving Hitler back to his suicidal fate in the Berlin bunker.
“Today, America and our allies face some of the gravest threats to our security since Axis forces marched across Europe and the Pacific. And as these threats grow, some of the same forces that hampered our response in the 1930s have re-emerged.”
Nonsense. If, like me, you don’t want to get nuked by Russia, and have argued to keep Ukraine neutral, then you’re attacked by a senile senator who just wants to spend more of your money on the Military Industrial Complex that has bankrolled his career.
Oh, and if this threat is so real, why aren’t young men flocking to volunteer for the McConnell Corps, the way they did to the U.S. military after Japan Pearl Harbor’d us on Dec. 7, 1941?
“Germany is now a close ally and trading partner. But it was caught flat-footed by the rise of a new axis of authoritarians made up of Russia, China, North Korea and Iran. So, too, were the advanced European powers who once united to defeat the Nazis.”
Unbelievable nonsense to please his MIC controllers. The reason these regimes have united against Biden and McConnell is because the two boughten politicians have forced them together. I’m sure McConnell, like Biden, remembers how Nixon and Kissinger five decades ago adopted the policy of increasing the divisions between the Soviet Union/Russia and China. Now that’s been reversed. How dumb can you get?
McConnell: “Like the United States, they [NATO countries] responded to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine in 2014 with wishful thinking. The disrepair of their militaries and defense industrial bases, and their overreliance on foreign energy and technology, were further exposed by Russia’s dramatic escalation in 2022.”
Actually, it’s well known Obama, with Biden as his Ukraine point man, provoked Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea by sponsoring a putsch that put in power the current pro-Nazi regime in Kiev. That regime immediately began working to oust Russia’s Black Sea Fleet from its harbor in Sevastopol. And it immediately began shelling Russians in the Donbas region, killing some 14,000 since then. Plans also were being made to put U.S. nuclear missiles in Ukraine, 300 miles from Moscow.
“Here at home, we face problems of our own. Some vocal corners of the American right are trying to resurrect the discredited brand of prewar isolationism and deny the basic value of the alliance system that has kept the postwar peace.”
Again, this isn’t 1938.
“This dangerous proposition rivals the American left’s longstanding allergy to military spending in its potential to make America less safe.”
Note he doesn’t say how he’s going to pay for all that military spending. But we know: through more debt piled on top of the current $35 trillion federal debt. Here’s the debt-to-GDP ratio of the U.S. regime.
McConnell first became a Senator in 1985, when the ratio was 40% debt to GDP. Now it’s 120% debt to GDP – three times as much. What has this spendthrift ever done except waste our tax money?
Some of us remember the $7 trillion wasted on the disastrously failed Iraq and Afghan wars, which McConnell pushed. Along with the cost in dead American troops and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and Afghans.
This country is broke, Senator! And you bankrupted it.
“It should not take another catastrophic attack like Pearl Harbor to wake today’s isolationists from the delusion that regional conflicts have no consequences for the world’s most powerful and prosperous nation. With global power comes global interests and global responsibilities.”
Actually, Pearl Harbor 2.0 would be what I described in a previous article, “72 Minutes to Nuclear Armageddon.”
Maybe McConnell, at 82 a year older than Biden, has a death wish and just wants an end to his arthritis pain. Well, I’ll be only 69 next week and want to go on a few more years. At least until my stupid government ends the embargo on Cuban cigars.
Notice there’s no mention of diplomacy. He praises Reagan’s arms buildup in a different era, but not Reagan meetings with Gorbachev that ended the Cold War. Why isn’t Mitch calling for Biden to summit with Putin and broker peace?
Mitch: “The president began this year’s State of the Union with a reference to President Franklin Roosevelt’s 1941 effort to prepare the nation to meet the Axis threat. But until the commander in chief is willing to meaningfully invest in America’s deterrent power, this talk carries little weight….
“Today, the better part of valor is to build credible defenses before they are necessary and demonstrate American leadership before it is doubted any further.”
He just wants to waste more of money we don’t have on more weapons that aren’t working anyway in Ukraine, but would fill the coffers of his MIC sponsors while racing us closer to Armageddon.
