When I was in Washington in the 1980s under Reagan, we young conservatives always cheered when the government “shut down” over one of these budget “crises.” We knew the shutdown was bogus, affecting only about 13% of the government; and those workers would get back pay for sitting home and vegetating there instead in of their bureaus.
Government shutdown is a euphemism for paid vacation because while the furloughed employees don't have to show up and work, they get all their back pay for the time they didn't actually work, after the payroll logjam is cleared. They should be legitimately laid off from an employer to which they are attached and apply for unemployment like normal employees.

At least the GOP is trying to stop(since 1980) the LibDems and to fix the War/Welfare State and make it cheaper, efficient and more conservative....
I love your optimism!
… And the nerve of them, trying to give themselves a raise that is equivalent to 85% of my annual salary
And for such fine work too!
"fine"....
